Achievments

  • Mathematic results on solution uniqueness of 2-phase Stefan-type problems, involving nonlinearities in source components and boundary fluxes;
  • Results on mathematical models of the structural martensitic transformation dynamics, activated by coupled physical mechanisms, with applications in modeling of thermo-mechanically activated processes in shape memory materials;
  • Creating mathematical models of dynamics of nonisothermal, diffusion-enforced phase separation phenomena involving multi-scale phase separation and coupled enforcing mechanisms

  • 1989–1998 – professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw;
  • 1989–1993 – Academic Director at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw;
  • Since 1993 Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling UW;
  • 1993–1995 – President of the Advisory Team for IT Infrastructure of the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN);
  • 1997–2004 – member of the Research Council of
    Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS)
  • Since 1997 – manages the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling team implementing research and implementation projects in the field of large contract systems under agreements with PLL LOT S.A. Boeing Company;
  • Since 2003 – permanent representative of Poland in the EU, Advisory Panel for development strategy eInfrastructures;
  • 2003 – member of government committee for the location of the new domestic airport, appointed by the new Minister for Infrastructure;
  • 2004 – author and coordinator of programming document MNiI: Lines of development of information society in Poland until 2020
