Academic research conducted

Natalia Kohtamäki is assistant professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. Her main research interests concentrate on the areas of:

  • European financial supervision,
  • Europeanization of administrative law,
  • Multi-level governance,
  • Theoretical modeling of European administrative space.

She is Principal Investigator of a prestigious 3-year National Scince Centre (NCN) grant “Harmonia 10” (2019-2022): Project: The Legal Challenges of Innovative Public Governance. This project is conducted in cooperation with researchers from the Faculty of Law of Humboldt University Berlin and European Institute of London School of Economis and Political Science.

Before, in the years 2014-2018, she conducted research on EU regulatory agencies. The project was also financed by the a grant from the National Science Centre Poland (“Sonata 5”).

She published by Peter Lang [Theorising the Legitimacy of EU Regulatory Agencies, Berlin 2019] and Mohr Siebeck [Die Reform der Bankenaufsicht in der Europäischen Union, Tübingen 2012].

  • evolution of public governance (e.g. ”better regulation”, digitalization, Scandinavian models of open and transparent governance).

Feedback to stakeholders and decision-makers within the processs of shaping specific regulation in varios sectors of the internal market (esp. food safety, pharmaceuticals and financial supervision).

Professional experience

Natalia Kohtamäki has been employed full time at the Institute of International Law, the European Union and International Relations at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (since 1 October 2011 till the 29 February 2012 as an assistant; since 1 March 2012 onward – as a post-doctoral fellow).

During this time she carries out the following administrative functions at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw:

  • since 2013 Dean’s Representative for the Anti-Plagiarism Programme,
  • since 2016 Member of the Inter-Faculty Commission on Didactics,
  • since 2017 Representative for the Erasmus+ Academic Exchange Programme for the law course (Departmental Coordinator).

Between 2009 and 2011 she worked as a researcher in the Global Financial Markets College at the Faculty of Law at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena.

Between 2008 and 2009 she was hired for the position of an analyst in the Office of Research and Analyses of the Polish Institute of International Affairs in Warsaw.
