The mission of the station (SME) is monitoring of environmental and health hazards for the population of Mazowsze, in lne with the rules of sustainable development. Monitoring will cover the state of natural biodiversity, evaluation of water quality, soil and and food, and the evaluation of health condition of selected social groups exposed to harmful potentially exposed to harmful factors.
The research objects of the Zoology Laboratory are small soil invertebrates, epigenetic and epiphytic. It is a group which, despite strong urbanizational pressure, has a strong representation is numerous ecosystems, including urban ones.
Studies conducted at the Laboratory of Toxicology and Environmental Technologies are based on the evaluation of chemical, physical and biological threat condition in natural environment, with particular regard of various ecosystems, as well as their impact on organisms inhabiting these ecosystems, including human being.
The scientific mission of Hydrobiology and Water Protection is basic research in the field of hydrobiology, i.e. freshwater and saltwater ecology. They also cover works on the relationships between organisms and the environment in terms of accuracy of ecosystem operation.
Research topic focuses mainly on investigating the diversity and operation of entomopathogenic fungi in soil environment, but also on studying the interactions between soil microorganisms, soil fauna and flora and their influence of these interactions on the biological activity of the soil.
The research subject conducted at the Laboratory of Behavioral and Evolutionary Ecology is the variability of individual traits and their reproductive success (particularly in the case of water birds).
Research conducted in the Geological - Hydrological and GIS Laboratory is based on the interpretation of environmental reality and the description of environmental processes in a holistic approach.
Research conducted at the Laboratory of Ecology and Soil Protection addresses the issue of examining groups of soil animals, their role in the functioning of soil subsystem and in the preservation and regeneration of soil organic matter resources as a form of restriction of biological emission of CO2 to the atmosphere.
Laboratory of Prehistoric Anthropology conducts research in the field of: human body, with particular emphasis on bone and tooth tissues.
Laboratory of Invertebrates and Plants conducts research covering interactions of groups of invertebrates inhabiting a wide spectrum of natural environments and those transformed by humans.
